Big Selling Point: If you need some help with the mortgage, you should have no problem finding a tenant. The basement has a separate entrance, a gleaming bathroom and nine-foot ceilings, and a kitchen and a laundry room are both already roughed in.

Possible Deal Breaker: Living on Craven Road could set you up for some teasing about being a coward—especially among Game of Thrones fans.

    Super house! I have seen this house go up from rubble. It’s a great design for Toronto’s narrow lots. Plus, it managed to score a parking spot. Beautiful!

    doubt”, and my friend I no longer have a doubt. Let me educate you a bit, because
    you sure as heck need it. Before the twenties Craven did not exist and was not
    part of Leslieville and in fact it ended exactly where the rear lots of Ashdale
    Ave. ended. However do to the poor living conditions of people that lived on
    what became Craven Rd. in 1923, the city decided to expropriate a portion of the
    rear yards of Ashdale Ave. homes and turn it into Craven Rd. And at the same
    time they forced all its residence to pay for city water and sewage hook ups
    and whoever couldn’t afford it lost their home. They also included Craven as part
    of Leslieville . And in fact the border of Leslieville stretches from Booth
    ave. to Coxwell ave. To the other stupid comment about neighbors living in
    dumps , well moron not only is that discriminating but this is the history and typical
    circle of life things rise then fall then rise again. And if you can explain
    why Craven was called Craven and why booth was called booth and why that was
    the previous border of Leslieville, I might remove a little of my doubt.

    I’m obviously a neighbour Sherlock, I have previously stated I’ve seen this home go up and I have seen the changes on this street the past few years. And it’s really not hard to figure out who you are Judging by the name and this being your first comment on Toronto Life. Hmmmm. And finally spell check your crap before you post it…It’s KEEP dreaming!!!

    I live just north of Dundas, on Craven Rd. I bought my small detached for just under $400K this past August and while it still has a ways to go, I am very happy with how this neighborhood is developing. I bought here because it seems to be an undervalued pocket in between the Beach and Leslieville neighborhoods (the same house I bought would be $200K more one block east or west). I think this house may be a little over-priced ($100K, give or take) for this point in the market cycle, but it really is a gem – especially given the fact that it is steps from Queen St. and has its own private laneway and parking.

    I’m glade nice houses like this one are being built, Modern, contemporary, very classy, lots of natural light, close to Woodbine beaches!!! I’m sure who has the money to by this house will be a very happy person. I would buy it if i could….Had the cash is what i mean. Beautiful House! Congrats!

    I would have to agree wtih the Streetview assessment of Craven Road. My apologies to all that live on that street, but Craven Road has to be one of the streets with the least curb appeal in Toronto. The house itself seems to be executed nicely, but that location…

    This isnt a bad neighbourhood by any stretch and anyone who thinks it is needs to get out more often. You might get run off the sidewalk by a double wide stroller, I guess. The problem with this place is the proximity to Queen and hence the street car (rumble rumble) and the fact that it is up against an alley. Nice place otherwise, and yeah, the tax is definitely going to be re-assessed for at least double.

    isn’t the general rule of thumb to avoid have the cheapest house on an expensive street, not vice versa?

    I think I get out quite a bit, and very well versed in the neighbourhoods of Toronto. The very Eastern end of Leslieville isn’t a bad neighbourhood per se, however, Craven Rd itself is not an enticing street. One sided streets facing an old wooden fence, surrounded by aluminium siding shacks would qualify as such. This is a stretch of street with houses routinely selling around the $350k range, and this house is asking for nearly 3 times that amount. House befitting of neighbourhood? In addition, Craven Rd lots are typically only around 73 ft long, with no access to the rear of the house. This house is lucky that it’s next to an alley, so they have a parking spot, but at the cost of any backyard.

    I got to tour the place yesterday, and if I hit the lottery I will pay asking. Everything else asides, this is an extremely well designed and built house. This is probably the only house in the beaches that took its structural precaution with the house being so close to the water, and that guy knows what he is talking about. The layout, the features and the finishes, it really could not be any better. It’s a remarkable home and I think if you take this home and place it in the middle of Ghetto Detroit, it’s still worth the asking. I did ask him about the green ball extravaganza…he laughed and said it beats watering plants every day.

    WOW – beautiful house, nicely designed. Biggest mistake though is that street. There is no way any house on Craven is worth that. I totally agree with gkmedia and my apologizes Craven-ites but that street is like living in a lane-way.
