Newtonbrook East
This is the kind of suburb now called 20th-century traditional: Newtonbrook East is almost half a century old and it’s conveniently connected to amenities and transportation. It mixes a large number of detached homes with a few scattered apartment buildings. Of historical note, Lester B. Pearson, prime minister of Canada from 1963 to 1968, was born in the Methodist manse in Newtonbrook in 1897, back when it existed as a farming community named (in 1863) for Sir Isaac Newton. The area has since developed a lot of convenient shopping, evident in the Newtonbrook Plaza and Northtown shopping centre.
