ADDRESS: 336 Spadina Road, Penthouse 4
NEIGHBOURHOOD: Casa Loma
AGENT: Hannah Math Slan and Robert Michael Davidson, Harvey Kalles Real Estate Ltd.
PRICE: $2,524,000
THE PLACE: A two-level penthouse that looks a stage set from a Nancy Meyers movie. It’s in the newly built Churchill Park Condominiums, a 14-storey cylindrical tower designed by Toronto’s Quadrangle architects (a firm famous for their proposal to put a green roof on the Gardiner).
BRAGGING RIGHTS: Exclusivity. Each of the building’s 14 floors is home to a maximum of four apartments, but if that’s not secluded enough, the penthouse also comes with a rough-in for a private elevator.
BIG SELLING POINT: Thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows, a wraparound terrace and two balconies, you’ll never risk vitamin D deficiency.
POSSIBLE DEAL BREAKER: The white-on-white-on-white (on-more-white) colour scheme will give you jitters any time you even think of enjoying one of life’s stain-making pleasures (coffee, red wine, mud wrestling).

One good thing is that when you go to paint some much-need colour on the walls, you don’t have to prime first!
January 13, 2012 at 4:04 pm | by lolaCould someone educate me on why a two-bedroom condo with no particularly exclusive features not particularly central is supposed to be worth $2.5mn + $1400 per month fees? Not snarky, it just doesn’t compute for me given how much house (in any number of exclusive neighbourhoods) that would get you.
January 13, 2012 at 4:43 pm | by IgnatzSimple Ignatz.. you are paying to say you live 7 mins walk from Casa Loma and Forest Hill.. have you heard of location location ?! Four apartments on each floor only is unheard of. They are catering to the empty nesters north on frest hill who is tired of snow cleaning. Here.. and don tget me wrong, I dont agree with the price or fees, just giving you my 2 cents!
January 14, 2012 at 9:34 pm | by TodFor over $1000/sqft and $1400/month in maintenance fees I expect to be ‘wowed’ at every turn. I guess I am not part of the intended market for this condo because I didn’t like anything. Small kitchen, some oddly shaped rooms and a questionable interior design sense make for, imo, an over-priced and ugly condominium.
January 14, 2012 at 10:12 pm | by Scary TerryWell I have to disagree with those who think that the price is too high for this condo. I have looked on web and found Toronto’s most expensive houses. Third place is occupied by condo that with its 6,700 square foot costs $18,888,000. I don´t know, but given the location of this condo and it´s price, this doesn´t look as that bad deal for the buyers. The white design is standard and the quality of furniture and accessory seems good. In conclusion, I can imagine that somebody might be interested in buying this condo.
January 15, 2012 at 12:19 pm | by John B.Loves it! Like hello? Location Location Location is right. I think this is a great space. I just love the set up. Add a bit of colour and you have a really cute place….where can i sign?
January 17, 2012 at 12:18 am | by pcBlech! For this price you can buy a beautiful and decorated home in Rosedale.
Does the purchase price include paint?
January 17, 2012 at 9:07 pm | by Curious GeorgeI am sure the unit is lovely, but the all white decor does nothing to showcase its beauty. It actually makes it look sterile.
January 19, 2012 at 7:40 am | by AnitaFabulous location & seemingly great space. There’s nothing that a lick of paint and some elbow grease couldn’t fix.
