ADDRESS: 298 Glen Road
NEIGHBOURHOOD: Rosedale–Moore Park
AGENT: Joseph Robert and Kevin Crigger, Royal LePage J&D Division, Brokerage
PRICE: $1,389,000
THE PLACE: Steps from Chorley Park and a short walk to the Evergreen Brick Works, this four-bedroom house may be smallish for Rosedale at 2,442 square feet but it’s also a quality starter home for the (extremely) upwardly mobile.
BRAGGING RIGHTS: A home that has been featured in the international real estate section of “Great Home and Destinations” in the New York Times.
BIG SELLING POINT: Currently owned by designer and real estate agent Gillian Oxley, the home is beautifully appointed: from high-end pieces like the CaesarStone countertop to low-rent—but still glam—finishes like the wallpaper in the kitchen.
POSSIBLE DEAL BREAKER: Oxley calls the place “a sweet little house amongst many mansions” and jokes that “it was most likely a butler’s or servant’s house” once upon a time. If you’re prone to feeling “lesser than” (despite, you know, owning a million-dollar home), Rosedale might not be the area for you.

Since when is $1.4 million considered the price of a STARTER home? Toronto Life, you need a huge reality check.
September 28, 2011 at 1:46 pm | by JaneHate to stick up for TL, but I believe they’re referring to $1.4M as the price of a starter home in Rosedale – not Toronto in general.
September 28, 2011 at 2:15 pm | by TKI’m sure the headline was meant to be tongue-in-cheek but, $1.4 million is a starter home price…in Rosedale. Bet it won’t last long.
September 28, 2011 at 2:17 pm | by KatI am starting to see that homes at the one million point are not only “starter” homes in Rosedale but also in many areas of Toronto.
September 29, 2011 at 7:29 am | by joanI do love it … perfect for moi
September 29, 2011 at 8:17 am | by love itReally nice! although for 1.4M, you could likely do wonders to a home in Danforth/Leslieville/Riverdale and have funds left over for a winter place in Florida.
I guess it just depends on how much you have to have the ‘Rosedale address’ at dinner parties…
September 29, 2011 at 8:55 am | by MikeI would normally consider the title of this article to be tongue in cheek, but ALL of the real estate articles in this magazine are like this. Seriously, who is reading this!?
September 29, 2011 at 9:28 am | by Josephjoseph..from the looks of it …you are ..constantly “ALL of the real estate articles in this magazine are like this”?
September 29, 2011 at 10:58 am | by nicoleif you need to live in rosedale, then live in rosedale.
September 29, 2011 at 12:33 pm | by Annya“Bathroom with washer and dryer”? You mean laundry room with a ridiculous toilet in the corner
September 29, 2011 at 12:49 pm | by JessJess, if you look at the picture before, it’s the same bathroom. There’s a shower and double sink in that bathroom with laundry. Nice place overall.
September 29, 2011 at 1:49 pm | by KrisBalk at the price all you want. It will probably sell for $1.6. It’s the market that drives the price.
October 1, 2011 at 12:10 pm | by MLS JunkieGet out of Toronto if you can’t bear the price.
“…paintings by the owner’s ex-husband…”
Unless the owner is selling the paintings with the house, who cares who the artist is?
