Wholesome soups, hearty sandwiches and homey baked goods are the big draws for this busy midtown lunch spot. We opt for the classic soup-and-sandwich combo. Hot off the grill, two hash-marked Ace multigrain toasts envelop the paper-thin gala apple slices, which come smothered by gooey aged white cheddar cheese. Finished with fresh thyme, parsley and a light drizzle of honey, the sandwich balances fresh flavours with comforting textures. And while spring can’t come soon enough, we get hints of it in a smooth cup of potato and fennel soup. True to its moniker, the oat and bran Superfood muffin ($2.75) packs raisins, apricots, walnuts and flax seeds under its crusty cap, adding a nutritious mouth-sweetener to the healthy combo.
The cost: $10.72
The time: A speedy 25 minutes, including a four-minute wait for our freshly grilled sandwich.

I am addicted to the Superfood Muffin! It’s the best muffin in Toronto. It’s usually sold out by the time I get there for lunch.
March 7, 2011 at 12:44 pm | by JoyI am addicted to everything at Delica. In fact I think I might have to grab that combo for lunch tomorrow. I might like their cupcakes a bit more than the muffins, but I a sucker for anything chocolate.
March 7, 2011 at 2:11 pm | by LucasI work in the St.Clair and Yonge neighbourhood and visit Delica twice a week. What I love about this place is the obvious quality of the ingredients. It’s also a treat to have great service when you’re getting take-out. Devin the owner or Maria the manager are so gracious and helpful.

March 8, 2011 at 4:30 pm | by Big SlickWhere’s the beef? Good question. Too bad they didn’t mention the roast beef with brie sandwich. Unbelievably good!
March 8, 2011 at 9:51 pm | by TOfoodloverHands down one of the best ruaeatrsnts in the city. Have never been there for lunch, but I have chosen the risoto special (pumpkin, I think) and it was very good. Ditto on heading to Round Corner for good drinks to wait for your table to be ready. Great review!
