Langley’s chicken-fried tuna and waffles adorn Ottawa Magazine’s best restaurants cover
Ottawa chef Charlotte Langley has got talent, looks and a sailor’s mouth. Lucky for us, she’s also moving to Toronto. The young chef is bound for Café Belong on December 1, where she will become chef de cuisine under food TV star Brad Long, whom she partnered with at the Canadian Celebrity Chefs Event earlier this year. Langley will be leaving The Whalesbone Oyster House behind, where she was executive chef. Under her direction, the restaurant was named one of Ottawa Magazine’s top 10 of the year. Indeed, the November/December cover features Langley’s take on chicken and waffles, which swaps out the chicken for chicken-fried tuna (she also penned a goodbye letter to Ottawa, published on Ottawa’s City Bites blog). We remember the chef fondly from this roundup of female chefs, where we first learned about her dirty mouth (cursing and assorted hilarious sexual references start about halfway down). We’re excited to see how that personality melds with Café Belong’s locavore ethic.

Toronto is lucky to have her!! Charlotte is well-known in Ottawa as a talented chef. Too bad in 2011, ‘looks’ still get played as a quality contributing to ones capability in one’s profession. So sad for all the chefs without ‘looks’.
