The Canadian Food Inspection Agency sent out an alert this morning warning people not to drink Neilson Trutaste 2% microfiltered partly skimmed milk, specifically the kind sold in four-litre bags with the UPC code 066800 00404 4, best-before date February 12 and best-before code 1590 FE12 H7. Saputo Inc. of Montreal decided to recall the milk, on shelves in Ontario and Quebec, after learning that some of it was contaminated with a cleaning solution. So far, one person has become sick after drinking the milk, but the Star reports that they didn’t require a hospital stay and have since recovered. In a slightly unsettling twist, the solution-laced milk can cause nausea and vomiting, even though it looks and smells normal. So keep your eyes peeled for those bewildering codes. There would be a big!!! Issue this disgusts me and how someone probly poured it in maybe they should be looking over the people who are working there how can we trust anyone with our food or drinks if this happens
January 27, 2012 at 5:36 pm | by SaraI was wondering why all of us were getting sick in the house!
January 27, 2012 at 5:58 pm | by MaryI only buy this milk no other, I just dumped the rest down the sink, and now I think I will go to Mac`s and buy one of the jugs they sell

January 27, 2012 at 6:27 pm | by TLMy husband came home from work sick tonight.
January 27, 2012 at 6:52 pm | by LouanWe were watching the news and heard the report
about the milk recall. I just purchased that milk
on the 24th and the tab read 1590 FE22
What about Neilson Skim milk my code is 1590 on my bag dated Febuary 5th, the code is the same on the plastic tag,
January 27, 2012 at 7:06 pm | by SandraI just purchased 4 4litre bags today because they were on sale. However the code reads 1590 due date Feb 26. I hope this batch is ok. Very scary considering I am due this Sunday and have children that drink milk. We haven’t opened this batch yet…..not sure now whether to try it???
January 27, 2012 at 7:21 pm | by MelissaI called the company and asked the name of the cleaning solution — it was sodium hydroxide in a dilluted form — but to me that is still scary even though dilluted! I have their 3.25% which they claim has been tested and not affected but I still don’t trust that company now so am tossing it and going to get Sealtest!
January 27, 2012 at 8:48 pm | by JenIs the company going to reimburse us? This is the very first time we bought this milk and this happens. My boyfriend came home sick and missed 2 days wages.
January 27, 2012 at 10:36 pm | by Melissa LesterI wouldn’t take any chances with any of Neilsons milk products, I myself have 2 children and I just got rid of the milk but I kept the bag and tag on it. On top of that it was skim milk, not 2% regardless I’m not taking any chances and will be changing to Beatrice milk from now on. They say 80,000 liters effected that is roughly 21,000 bags if milk and who knowes if it has effected the 1%, skim, and 3.25% ! There hasn’t been any reports yet this far, but again I as a mom will not take the chance.
January 28, 2012 at 10:31 am | by MariaSeriously? Your kids and husband are throwing up so it must be the milk? There is a stomach flu going around which is more than likely causing your family’s issues. My son and husband were sick with vomiting and diarreah 2 weeks ago–it was a nasty virus, but it passes. Relax.
January 28, 2012 at 10:32 am | by SandyJust got off the phone with Saputo Inc…she said it’s only that date feb 12; all UPC codes will be the same; so it’s the date that’s important. she also said that if feeling sick since we drank it to consult our doctor.
