Just as Canadians were congratulating themselves on their nation-wide health consciousness for rejecting the allure of the Double Down comes the news that Canada’s national ambassador, Tim Hortons, is home to a snack that makes KFC’s sodium speedball look positively ascetic. The drink that Men’s Health has declared the “worst beverage in America” is available right here in the GTA, all thanks to Timmies’ penchant for brand partnerships.
The Star reports that Cold Stone Creamery’s peanut butter and chocolate milkshake can be purchased across the GTA at 17 Tim Hortons that have Cold Stone stores inside their shops. What makes the delicious-sounding drink so bad? The 2,010 calories, 131 grams of fat (68 of them saturated) and 880 milligrams of sodium.
Men’s Health says, “In terms of saturated fat, drinking this Cold Stone catastrophe is like slurping up 68 strips of bacon.” According to our basic math, calorie wise, this drink is the same as eating about four Double Downs, four Big Macs (yes, McDonald’s marquee sandwich has the same nutritional content as the DD), two and a half Cinnabon cinnamon buns, three bowls of poutine (from Harvey’s), or 10 Timmies maple dips.
What obesity epidemic?

I thought for sure this would be an article about their coffee….or those vile, disgusting “Ice Capps”. Yikes!

Ice cream, chocolate and peanut butter just aren’t that loaded. Obvy, they’re not ideal in quantity, but this drink would have to be “fortified” to reach these caloric heights. HFCS anyone?

What a concept!
