Tim Hortons adapts to American way of life as doughnuts become hamburger buns

(Image: myinnerfatty.blogspot.com)

When Tim Hortons started opening locations in the United States a few years ago, we mused that a distinctly Canadian operation might have trouble assimilating. How would Timmies fare in the world of Krispy Kreme and Starbucks? Well, today our worries are put to rest. Thanks to a recent blog post on My Inner Fatty, we can see Tim Hortons doughnuts are fitting in nicely with the American way of life.

In a post that could be from thisiswhyyourefat.com or Paula Deen, only with more realism and narrative flow, the “formerly overweight” NYC blogger Nicholas describes his dabblings in the dangerous field of doughnut burgers, eschewing bread buns in favour of Timmies double chocolate, vanilla frosted and honey glazed.

You feel tremendous eating the 1st one, but by the 2nd you begin to feel it, and by the 3rd, you just feel awful. It really makes you wonder how something can taste so amazing, but 5 minutes later… is the last thing you want to look at.

As far as recipes go, this “Canadian take on” the American “abomination” is pretty simple. Beef plus two doughnuts plus processed cheese equals heaven. The best combo, according to Nicholas, is the double chocolate and honey-dipped.

Is it just us, or do all Canadians suddenly feel a strange combination of curiosity, patriotism and revulsion?

  1. Vomitous. Gives KFC’s all-meat sandwich a run for its money.

  5. Your headline implies that Tim Hortons is making or at least promoting the idea of a doughnut burger not that some mentally defective American blogger (sorry to be redundant) just made a few of them up.

  8. What trailer park did this come from?
The least someone could do is use real cheese?
I guess fake cheese is cheaper, but you think there would be some kind of better version of this.

Guess everyone likes those defrosted and reheated doughnuts.
Or maybe this is from an episode of the Simpsons!

  9. Lined up at 7am in the morning to get 2 dozen before a meeting with some client in the US (apparently it is a staple to conduct good business). Saw people ordering a Krispy Kreme burger… Same principle as above… really gross at 7am!

  10. Tim Hortons will be shut down soon anyway, as the customer service standards are dangerously low.
