Protocol is to bundle the offender off the field and into a holding area—which, in practical terms, usually turns out to be the security guards’ office—until the police get there. If the high-spirited fan happens to be starkers, someone is dispatched to retrieve the duds he (and it’s usually a he) was wearing in his seat—we hope. The police decide whether to lay criminal charges (a conviction for public mischief can get you six months in the slammer) or let the perp off with a stern warning. Alternately, they could slap him with a fine for trespassing, which can run up to $5,000—at least one or two tickets to a regular season game.
