TIFF PRESS CONFERENCE: Jennifer Lawrence teases Bradley Cooper at the Silver Linings Playbook presser

Best filmmaking insider lingo to crop up during the press conference for Silver Linings Playbook? “Bedroom perfect.” According to writer and director David O. Russell, the term refers to actors who polish up their lines in their bedrooms before arriving on set. “I tend not to work well with actors who are bedroom perfect,” said the director, known for Three Kings and The Fighter, and his loose, semi-improvised manner of working. Russell was joined on stage by his bedroom-imperfect cast, including Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence (both of whom were also on The Place Beyond the Pines red carpet on Friday night) as well as Chris Tucker, Jacki Weaver and Anupam Kher—a Bollywood ringer with more than 400 credits. The actors took turns praising Russell’s direction and talking about the way the film grapples with issues of mental illness. Cooper’s character, for instance, flies into a rage every time he hears his wedding song, Stevie Wonder’s “My Cherie Amour.” When Cooper was asked if any songs set him off in real life, Lawrence jumped in. “He cries every time he hears ‘Call Me Maybe,’” she joked. Cooper looked at her, confused: “I still don’t know what that is.”
