TIFF PARTY: Hello! Magazine

Hello! magazine hosted its fourth annual TIFF party at the Ritz Carlton last night, drawing a crowd of mostly Canadian celebs. Our favourite guest, though, was Ed Burns, the prolific American writer/director/actor here to promote his new film, The Fitzgerald Family Christmas, who told us he had spent the afternoon walking around the city, patronizing Buca and Irish pubs like P.J. O’Brien’s. Dean and Dan Caten of DSquared strutted in with a posse that included homeboys Greta Constantine. The red carpet was heavy with local talent like musicians Chantal Kreviazuk, Raine Maida and Fefe Dobson, who wore a stunning Rachel Roy sequined jumpsuit, as well as the adorable and very stylish couple Sarah Slean and Royal Wood. Also present: a contingent of athletes like Joffrey Lupul (who made a point of sharing his celebrity crush on Johnny Depp) and the extraordinarily tall (seriously!) Canadian tennis phenom Milos Raonic.

Everywhere we looked, we spotted Canadian celebs (a thousand people had RSVP’d for the event): Kevin O’Leary, Suzanne Rogers, Jian Ghomeshi, Liona Boyd in a multi-coloured hippie pastel velour outfit, replete with matching headpiece. Former Miss Universe Natalie Glebova was there in Herve Leger to represent the evening’s sponsor, diamond brand Canadian Ice. But nothing commanded the room quite like the entrance of Conrad Black and Barbara Amiel, who elicited a gasp and a collective whisper of “Look who’s here!”
