There was a time, not too long ago, when the trendiest outfit you could wear was a skintight velour pantsuit with a brand name emblazoned across the butt.  Unfortunately for Juicy Couture, one-time track-suiter to the stars, those days have passed. Retail Insider reports that the California-based brand has closed all but one of its Canadian boutiques. The last, an outlet shop in Vaughan, is scheduled to close on June 30.

Last fall, Juicy was offloaded by parent company Fifth and Pacific in a $195 million licensing deal. The company has since announced plans to transform part of its Juicy store fleet into outposts of its top-performing brand, Kate Spade—the preppy private-school girl to Juicy’s bedazzled mall rat. Assuming the strategy applies to the company’s Canadian retail spaces, Toronto could soon be welcoming up to four new candy-hued Kate Spade boutiques, including shops in Toronto Eaton Centre and Sherway Gardens.
