Runway Trend Report: bomber jackets at Rogue Fashion Week

Although today marks the official start of Toronto Fashion Week, a raft of labels already revealed their spring/summer 2013 collections as part of so-called Rogue Fashion Week.  The participating designers were definitely diverse, but we still noticed a few common themes—most notably, the continued popularity of varsity-inspired bomber jackets. Tanya Taylor, who reprised her New York Fashion Week presentation in Toronto for The Shows, offered a knit version with contrasting prints (above left), and Klaxon Howl’Matt Robinson turned the otherwise sporty look crisp with an all-white number (above centre). Meanwhile, Jeremy Laing borrowed the snap closures, contrasting sleeves and ribbed banding of a standard varsity jacket, but combined them with a looser fit and short sleeves—creating someting much more fashion-forward than would be seen on your average high-school jock.
