This pho institution remains as popular as it was in Ossington’s pre-hipsterification years. Creative types and Vietnamese expats keep it busy, even on weeknights. Culinary adventurers will be rewarded for straying from the norm. Its signature pho noodle soup has unusually flat broth and chunks of chicken floating alongside some not-quite-rare beef. The vegan pho, with various veggies and tofu in a rich, spicy lemon grass broth, by far outshines the regular variety, and less-familiar dishes are even more impressive. A rice flour pancake is crisp on the outside, hot and melting inside, stuffed with shrimp and bean sprouts and sided by daikon slaw. Cash only.
