This tiny Queen West spot is one of the great oyster destinations in the city: it’s as casual and lively as a maritime fish shack. The raw beauties are pristine and cleanly shucked, and they’re brilliant as they are, without the accompanying hot sauces or vinaigrette. Appetizers are mostly great—fish cakes are crisp-fried, without heavy batter. Deep-fried oysters, however, are all crust—glorious, light panko crispiness—with just a nub of oyster within. From the main courses on, it’s all downhill. Recently, a lovely fillet of steelhead trout is perfectly cooked but smothered in a parmesan cream sauce that annihilates the fish’s delicacy. Exceptionally confident, playful service makes up for many flaws in the food. Mains $12–$27.
