This homage to the early ’60s romanticizes the brooding, sleazy Mad Men vibe and offers retro cocktails that only a handful of 21st-century tipplers would order (the Singapore sling, for example). And yet the food—mostly small international sharing plates—is surprisingly good. The miso-marinated cod is cooked perfectly, though the skin is a little soggy (a common problem with this dish at many restaurants). Tender threads of pulled pork are charmingly paired with crunchy wonton chips. Mushroom pizza with Asiago offers similarly intense flavours, but the pale crust could stand a little blistering, and the promised artichoke topping is nowhere to be found. Engaging, courteous servers deliver the bad news about the wine list: half of the already meagre by-the-glass selection is mystifyingly unavailable. Small plates $7–$26.
