French chef Michel Masselin has recreated an authentic slice of Provence in a century-old building. His cooking is staid and true, with few pitfalls. Filet mignon au poivre provides a beautifully rare eight-ounce cut, though an overzealous dose of pepper gives it an unpleasant, sinus-searing finish. Two legs of duck confit in an orange-ginger sauce are impossibly tender and moist. Desserts dazzle, especially a smooth chocolate marquise. A decent wine list needs more Ontario picks. Charming service. Mains $19–$26.
