Long before the small-plates trend came and went, this casual midtown spot was serving traditional Middle Eastern mezzes. The room could use a millennial update, but with a congenial atmosphere and low prices, it’s still a neighbourhood favourite. The food is satisfying, but the choices aren’t exactly reinventing the wheel. Eggplant dishes fare well: a Sultan’s Stew of grilled aubergine, zucchini, tomato, green pepper and onion has depth of flavour, despite its unappealing name. Small plates $3.50.
