The time it takes from order to eating at chef Ravi Kanagarajah’s Adelaide soup kitchen is as quick as a drive-through, but between the massive communal table and umbrella-dotted patio, the atmosphere is far more enjoyable. More importantly, the food is delicious. Many of RaviSoups’ namesake dishes are complex, rich and pure succour. A sweetish tangle of shredded blue crab and fried shallots is a bit too delicate for the spicy corn chowder, but it’s a lovely textural addition. Noodles in the chicken hot pot are fresh and springy; the broth is coconut milky, tart and scented with kefir leaf. A bowl of either easily earns its $9 price tag, but the best value is in the wrap-and- soup combo. The pork shoulder is especially good—roasted pig soaked in slightly sticky tamarind ketchup and tucked with mango sticks. A tender treat. Curried lamb, on the other hand, is much too salty. Lunch delivery available weekdays.
