Having spent her formative chef years in Montalcino, owner Alida Solomon’s menu is unapologetically Tuscan and celebrates Ontario’s farms. Ribollita brings a hearty bowl of soft cannellini beans and tender black kale with a grilled hunk of bread soaking up the tomato-kissed vegetable broth. On one visit, duck egg ravioli in a daily special are stuffed with sumptuous braised guinea hen, draped with zucchini blossoms and wild leeks and napped with a buttery broth. It’s a heavenly plate of pasta. Porchetta brings a slab of braised Tamworth pork rimmed with a succulent cap of fat. Desserts are Italian in spirit but marked by a seductive French flair. Intensely dark chocolate-chestnut mousse sits on delicate cocoa shortbread sided by olive oil gelato and fragrant orange salt. The wine cellar focuses squarely on big-ticket reds from central Italy. Mains $22–$30.
