The wood-burning oven lends its glow to the cozy room where U of T students come for something more sophisticated than the bento boxes and falafels that dominate the Annex’s restaurant row. With a preponderance of sun-dried tomatoes and pesto cream sauces, the menu reads as if unearthed from a time capsule circa 1992, but the cooking is consistent and crowd-pleasing. Topping-heavy pizzas are good but not refined enough for Neapolitan aficionados. Pastas are a better bet, like rigatoni with wild boar sausage and mushrooms in a basil-kissed tomato sauce. Most wines are under $40. Friendly servers handle the busy room with aplomb. Mains $12.50–$28.
