While Bar Salumi continues to function primarily as a holding pen for sister restaurant Local, you could do well staying here for dinner instead. Chef Fabio Bondi’s charcuterie skills have improved since he landed in Parkdale three years ago: on one visit, the salumi board includes terrific, woodsy porcini salami and dill-flecked bresaola. A late summer salad of grilled peaches, lonza (cured pork loin), piquant Gorgonzola, toasted walnuts and fresh mint is another dazzler from the antipasto menu. A tiny pizza station, recently installed by the front window, turns out superb Roman-style pies that are a refreshing change from the often-too-burnt Neapolitan versions currently in vogue. The crust walks a steady tightrope between crisp and fluffy, while toppings feature such winning combinations as thinly sliced potatoes, house- cured prosciutto and creamy ricotta. Four spins on the negroni (including a delicious sweet version with gin, Campari, Cointreau and berry tea) are tempting aperitivi. Mains $14–$17.
