One is as much a shrine to wealth as it is to food. The cuisine and service are fantastic, but you can’t escape the feeling that you’re paying for the Yorkville location and the Yabu Pushelberg–designed room. But what sweet luxury it is. The ambitious cooking consistently delivers, and the ingredients are top quality. In fact, the precisely composed plates suffer only from excessive portions and price; a hamburger and fries is a ludicrous $28. On one visit, fragrant artichokes top a giant bowl of creamy carnaroli risotto appetizer with a devilish whiff of shaved truffle. Given the size, it could easily be a main course. A pan-roasted 10-ounce pork chop wedged into a bed of fluid polenta and just-caramelized peaches is a triumph of succulent Berkshire, seasoned with restraint. Mains $25–$54.
