Everything about this contemporary bistro seems designed to create a sense of comfort—the music is unobtrusive, the decor is refined, and the service is friendly. The same relaxed approach extends to the kitchen, led by chef Jean-Charles Dupoire. Pistachio-crusted goat cheese is tossed with roasted beets, arugula, red pepper coulis and a charred lemon dressing in a pleasant, if predictable, salad. Ricotta lends a mild creaminess to the pearl barley risotto; it’s topped with toasted almonds and a gentle sage–brown butter sauce and studded with seasonal vegetables. Braised lamb shoulder livens up an otherwise humdrum macaroni and cheese. The wine list, crafted by partner and sommelier Sylvain Brissonnet, draws heavily on the restaurant’s namesake valley. Some of the evening’s biggest thrills are saved for last, like warm, gooey chocolate chip cookies that leave grown adults smiling like eight-year-olds. Closed Sunday and Monday. Mains $21–$28.
