Owners Victor Barry and Carlo Catallo have returned the restaurant to its fine-dining glory days. The experience is a lovely few hours of pampering, but there are a few glitches: apps arrive before the wine, and a purée of fennel soup is too acidic. But these are minor blemishes on an otherwise superb meal. Fabulously funky black truffles from France are generously shaved over a rich mound of fresh fettucine sauced with butter and cream. It’s breathtakingly good. Lamb three ways gets the Moroccan treatment: braised and shredded shoulder is napped with jus and sprinkled with pistachios; pink, juicy house-made merguez is deftly spiced; a crisp sweetbread sits atop a satiny purée of chickpeas. Moist carrot cake is slathered in vanilla bean cream cheese, boozy bourbon-soaked sultanas and cardamom-spiced ice cream. Mains$30–$40.
