Frank's Kitchen [?]

Frank Parhizgar’s narrow, two-year-old room is one of a handful of restaurants (Acadia, Woodlot) bringing culinary cred back to Little Italy. Attentive, knowledgeable service, inventive and accomplished cooking, and an elegant but cozy atmosphere come together to generate the kind of experience where a $200 bill feels like a bargain. Every meal opens with warm house-made bread and a delightful complimentary amuse bouche and closes with chocolate truffles or macaroons. The oysters Rockefeller, with creamy but light hollandaise, bacon and spinach, have quickly become legendary, while the crispy, pan-fried gnocchi with gorgonzola and pancetta brings huge flavours. Kobe bone marrow comes with an assortment of delectable sides—venison tartare, foie gras torchon, house-made pickled vegetables. There are flaws, however. The cocktails are too sweet and mains, such as the lobster and lamb, are too complex in flavour and presentation—but the adventurousness of the approach makes up for the fussy execution. Closed Monday. Mains $17–$35.
