The dated decor at this humble slice of eastern Europe on Bloor West is easily overlooked once a cold Lezajsk lager is in hand and an ever-smiling server explains that everything is house-made. Such standards as palate-rousing borscht, flavourful cabbage rolls and under-salted, lukewarm Vienna schnitzel are hearty enough, but it’s the delicate pierogies that make this spot special. Stuffed with cottage cheese, mushrooms and sauerkraut or potato and cheddar, these pockets could well be the best in town. The tender lamb pelmeny is also worth a try.
