Chinese expats flock to this Markham outpost for one thing: the authentic Beijing roast duck. The skin is so crispy it’s brittle, and the meat is ridiculously silky, fatty and rich. It’s served in three courses: first with crêpes, scallion, cucumber and hoisin, then with lettuce (for wrapping) and finally as a flavourful soup. Other typical offerings on the long menu are also worth a try. For instance, amoy is a pizza-sized pancake of oysters, egg and scallions that doesn’t skimp on the super-fresh bivalves. Cash only.
