Tucked among convenience stores and Jamaican spots, this Cambodian restaurant (formerly a Coffee Time and burger joint) bears the scars of its previous incarnations—mustard walls, Formica tables and bulb-less fluorescent fixtures—but the eight-table room, like so many of Toronto’s good ethnic eateries, is full of diners enjoying authentic dishes. Shrimp are tossed with killer green chilies and pralines of caramelized sugar, salt, shallot and garlic. Kako Khmer is a sweet-savoury mix of chicken, jackfruit, green papaya, eggplant and long bean. Unlicensed. Mains $8–$11.
