Cajú [?]

Pastel walls, courteous service, diffused lighting and filling Brazilian fare attract a more mature and diverse crowd than most Queen West restaurants. A fantastically bright-tasting tomato salsa and a rich side of black beans mixed with crackling steal attention from plump (but sadly grey) medallions of pork tenderloin. Feijoada, a smoky, salty stew of black beans and sausage, is best soaked up with sides of deep-fried cassava and basmati rice. It’s a heavy, hearty dish. The antidote is a caipirinha, the national drink of Brazil, which Cajú mixes with a perfect balance of cachaça (sugar cane liqueur) and lime. Mains $15–$23.
