Purple banquettes, aubergine walls, crystal chandeliers, pink cocktails—this is the opposite of a man cave. The menu opens with decadent desserts, but a few pages of savoury dishes follow. Happily, there is clearly someone with brains and talent in the kitchen, so a cafeteria staple like croque monsieur is luscious and ooey-gooey in all the right ways, with plenty of ham, a pot of grainy mustard and a tidy pile of well-dressed greens alongside. The only failing is the bumbling, albeit cheerful, service. Mains $12–$30.
