Although the short bistro menu features staid French classics, everything is executed with such flair that the meal is special nonetheless. Perfectly smooth foie gras torchon is elevated by a spiced pear butter. The mains are as refined as the apps: tender, crisp-skinned duck confit on braised red cabbage is as good as the dish gets. Boeuf bourguignon is done carefully, with tender beef cheeks, a rich sauce and a variety of blanched vegetables. Paris-Brest, a choux-pastry shell packed with silky chocolate-hazelnut cream, is one of a few old-fashioned desserts that hit the mark. Mains $9–$29.
