This cozy corner spot rates high on the comfort scale, with lots of dark wood, wingback chairs and comfy sofas. Cabbagetowners crowd in to dine on chef-owner Av Atikian’s Mediterranean-influenced bistro cooking, which wavers from delicious to dull. Pan-fried yukon gold potato gnocchi in pistachio pesto are dense, flavourless nuggets. At the other end of the taste spectrum, however, a half chicken in soy-miso-ginger sauce wows with incredible juiciness and gorgeously crispy skin. Atikian is clearly a master of the sear. Well-chosen wine list. Service is courteous, if brusque. Mains $18.
