Even though it is less than four years old, Corinna Mozo’s Cuban-influenced bistro already feels like a staple on the Ossington strip. Little has changed, from the alphabet light box and indie pop soundtrack to the laid-back service and meat-centric menu. Mozo could probably reduce the entire carte down to three items—her killer Cuban sandwich (all cured pork and melty gruyère), her excellent steak frites (Wellington County flatiron) and her baked-to-order chocolate chip cookies (they come with a white Russian)—and still be a force to be reckoned with. Those dishes remain highlights, but some of the cooking is starting to feel a bit rote. Two sad-looking little fillets of black cod and a few overcooked mussels in a sour broth do not inspire much enthusiasm, and the brief, food-friendly wine list is long on personality but offers little in the way of bargains. Mains $17–$24.
