Two years after opening his Yorkville bistro, chef Ricardo Roque has upped his game. The seafood-heavy menu draws inspiration from global flavours: three sweet, tender Moroccan-spiced sea scallops rest in a sauce redolent of fennel seed and garam masala alongside a ball of crispy risotto—it’s a surprising and delicious departure from the usual creamy variety. Sitting in a plate-licker red wine reduction, a roast rack of perfectly rare Australian lamb wears a thick crust of cranberry mustard; it’s beautifully paired with a mound of fantastic Savoyard potatoes, cranked up to 11 with Gruyère and garlic. Portions are generous and served with crunchy haricots verts. The room is pretty and relaxed, with cream panelled walls, a decorative cove ceiling, a marble bar and shimmering chandeliers. In the summer, the patio offers some of the best people-watching in Yorkville. Mains $20–$42.
