The Food Network’s Corbin Tomaszeski has taken the reins at C5, offering more accessible and democratically priced fare. The effect has been immediate: business is brisk, full of kids, grandparents and tourists. Tomaszeski made a bold pre-opening boast about serving “the most sought-after burger in the city,” and it’s undeniably good: a juicy disc of rosemary-perfumed chuck
on a brioche bun with nutty Gruyère and roasted garlic mayo. Had it been cooked medium, as requested, rather than well-done, it might have come close to his cocky claim. His cheddar biscuit, served alongside a comforting chicken soup, strikes the perfect balance between fluffy and cheesy. Mains $13–$24.
