This popular Pickering mainstay is a family affair: Drew Brown runs the front of the house, while his son, Kevin, crafts unpretentious, well-made classics. A generous dish of crispy-skinned orata (sea bream) is piled high on buttery pan-fried gnocchi, with warm tomato vinaigrette, poached egg and seasonal veggies—one night there are tender-crisp heirloom beets, carrots, asparagus, baby bok choy and artichoke hearts. An eight-ounce AAA tenderloin is perfectly ruby rare and meltingly tender. Mains $15–$29.
