At noon, this long, narrow sandwich shop fills up with a steady queue of 10-to-6 creative types emerging from production offices and graphic studios for lunch. A menu of classic sandwiches (monte cristo, tuna melt, pulled pork, ham and Swiss) done up on chunky bread provides ample variety if inconsistent execution. The grilled cheese has a dreamy golden crust; the corned beef is under-seasoned and gristly. Then there are the non-sandwich offerings: the too-salty yet undeniably delicious chicken gravy on the poutine is impossible to stop eating; the deep-fried mac-and-cheese is crispy on the outside, mushy on the inside. Carrot cake is moist, dense and bigger than your face. Chewy chocolate chip cookies are snapped up as fast as they can be pulled out of the oven.
