Don’t let the spiff-up job on this stately brownstone deceive you: the Brunny, a legendary Toronto beer hall, is still a favourite place of students. In the front, a lounge with booth seating is presided over by girls and their baseball-capped suitors. By midnight, the back room has filled up with a lively bunch dancing to deafeningly loud pop hits. Thursdays are most popular, but drunken bodies abound on summer weekends.
