The Rivoli is something of a Queen West institution, the crowd a relaxed mix of media types discussing Telefilm grants and weary shoppers stopping in for a quick drink. The restaurant is on the main floor (the kitchen is open late); drinkers congregate at the stainless steel bar in the adjoining space. In the back room, an intimate concert venue showcases local bands, comedy acts and spoken word artists; in its time, the storied stage hosted performances by everyone from local luminaries The Rheostatics to Beck. Upstairs, the cavernous 5,000-square-foot lounge and pool hall features 11 vintage tables, not to mention the popular Kickass Karaoke every second Sunday evening.
