House of the Week: $4.9 million for a South Hill home covered in floor-to-ceiling windows

House of the Week: 210 Poplar Plains Road

Address: 210 Poplar Plains Road
Neighbourhood: Casa Loma
Agent: Janet Marlene Lindsay, Chestnut Park Real Estate Limited, Brokerage
Price: $4,900,000

The Place: A towering contemporary home with five bedrooms in the quiet and leafy South Hill neighbourhood.

Bragging Rights: The master suite has two very luxe features: a three-sided fireplace separating the bedroom and bathroom, and a balcony that spans the entire width of the house.

Big Selling Point: Plenty of natural light and fresh air. There are floor-to-ceiling windows and outdoor spaces on every level.

Possible Deal Breaker: With marble floors on the main level and Brazilian hardwood on the second and third floors, you’ll probably need to invest in some area rugs—or at least a pair of cozy slippers.

By The Numbers:
• $4,900,000
• $18,994.61 in property taxes (2012)
• 6 bathrooms
• 5 bedrooms
• 4-car parking
• 3 storeys
• 3 fireplaces
• 2 skylights
• 2 balconies

Definitely not my cup of tea. Way too modern for my taste. Zero personality. And what is with that TV c.1990?

Trying to really like the property but:
    - kitchen is too disjointed in style and colour; the cabinetry is just hideously bland!
    - waste of marble and natural stone on the main floor; waste that is in terms of the colour choices
    - mosaic tiles on all the tub bases is just fugly not to mention a pain to maintain
    - cracks…major cracks…in the concrete driveway especially for that asking price?

    - so so presentation by the realitor

    Too cold. No heart.

A great example of taste cannot be acquired by money. Sad to see a house with awesome location and skeleton got distroyed by terrible interior design.

Still a very hefty price tag!!

Style Stalker. you must either LOVE clutter or are 50+. Nothing wrong with what they have- (which the buyer wouldnt be purchasing anyway). Everything that COMES with the house is clean and modern. …wheres the fridge though? for 4. whatever million I expect a great fridge. Could care less about their choice in furniture.

marnie,marnie,marnie…..as modern as re-cycled 50′s & 60′s design cues but still atrocious colour choices on the main floor….as for the fridge see pic#6
