Cottage of the Week: $600,000 for a lakefront cabin with a wraparound porch in the Hastings Highlands

ADDRESS: 105 Jogi Road

NEIGHBOURHOOD: Baptiste Lake, Hastings Highlands

AGENTS: Jill Price, Re/Max Eastern Realty Inc. Brokerage 181

PRICE: $599,900

THE PLACE:  This four-bedroom cottage perched on the edge of Baptiste Lake has a huge fireplace and a wraparound deck for summer sunsets.

BRAGGING RIGHTS: Lots of places to dip your toes in the water. The property has a large dock with a swimming ladder, as well as 454 feet of shoreline (which is weed-free, so wading in isn’t icky).

BIG SELLING POINT: In this price bracket, getting 2.89 acres of property is a definite perk—it provides plenty of room for expansion or just some added privacy.

POSSIBLE DEAL BREAKER: The property is located just north of the busy Kawartha Lakes, which is a little farther from the city than many cottages. To justify the journey up here, you may have to stay a little longer (which probably isn’t a bad thing).

BY THE NUMBERS:
• $599,900
• $4,600 (2011) in property taxes
• 3,000 square feet of space
• 454 feet of water frontage
• 2.89 acres of land
• 4 bedrooms
• 2 bathrooms
• 2-car heated garage
• 2 old-fashioned stove heaters
• 1 screened-in dining area

I love it!!!! Amazing… is TL out to lunch or what ?! U think the possible deal breaker is that its away from the other cottages ? That’s what most people want of their cottage, to be secluded with family and friends and have a good time especially in this lovely place and spend longer time. Even the furniture is so cottagey like!!!

This cottage is STUNNING. Though I do get how the extra distance and seclusion CAN be a dealbreaker. It wouldn’t be for big families or people who truly want to get away from it all, but sometimes its nice to chat with other people. The beauty of this place is worth the sacrifice.

    I agree with Suzy

Very cosy and rustic at a price-point that is relatively affordable.

    This is a cottage!

Wow, that is a cottage! Better than a cottage, but I suppose at $600,000 it better be pretty good. Lovely interior too.
