Mimco does not go to Islington. This area is New Toronto now called Lakeshore Village. There are 13 little streets south of Lakeshore west of Royal York that all go down to the lake. This area is amazing with the lake, skating rink, lawn bowling, swimming pool and parks…right next to the expanding Humber College campus. On the Lakeshore we having many local shops.I have lived here for 10 years and do all my shopping locally. You really don’t have to go to a cottage if you live here!
Mimco, New Toronto and Long Branch are all part of the Lakeshore BIA and all enjoy the lake…as a former east Beacher to me this area is just as nice with better housing values!

I’d advise people to take a good look at St Clair West ( between Keele and Caledonia), prices are reasonable, the community feel is terrific and transit is top notch (although Rob Ford may not agree)

Many of the houses are semi detached and there is currently a massive transformation taking place as young families are moving in. Minto is building a series of town homes at Caledonia and St Clair and Tridal is building a major development at Keele and St Clair.

The transformation is not complete, relative to other areas in this article it’s not yet comparable but it is in a great location relative to downtown and highways along with a short drive to the lake or high park and walking distance to libraries, community centers and more.

Last reason, there will be much more development in the coming years given the suitable land and proximity to downtown.
