Queen West’s Cajú to pack it in after 10 years
Brazilian cuisine has never been well represented in Toronto, and soon it will become even less so. After 10 years on Queen West, Mario Cassini has announced he’ll be shuttering his restaurant, Cajú, on December 22 and returning to his native Brazil to spend some time with family there. “It has truly been a pleasure to share my passion for my culture over the last decade and to have been part of the vibrant West Queen West community,” he said in a release. Cassini, who immigrated to Canada 25 years ago, is not ruling out a return to Toronto to work on future projects. Once Cajú clears out, the space at 922 Queen Street West will be taken over by another Toronto restaurateur, although no details have yet been announced.
A terrible restaurant.
Good riddance.
They were so rude to me when I walked in at (SHUDDER) 11pm on a Saturday night around three years ago.
Shower of cnuts.
I love Caju – a little piece of beautiful Brazil right here in Toronto. The food has always been delicious, and the service wonderful. It’s a shame that it’s closing down.
I went there years ago for a friend’s birthday. I ended up taking the bartender home at the end of the night. She was the only good thing about the place.
