Fans of the now-shuttered Prego della Piazza will find more than a few familiar faces greeting them at the subterranean entrance to this chic Yorkville restaurant. Prego owner and executive chef Faro Chiniforoush brought much of the staff from his former spot along when he opened Sorrel in 2010. The menu sticks to familiar, comforting classics. Baby octopus, tender and lightly charred, is served alongside a bright tomato and cilantro relish. A light tangle of arugula and shaved fennel combines peppery sweetness with a bracing dose of citrus from pomelo segments. A thick San Marzano tomato sauce adheres nicely to long, soft tendrils of tagliatelle; buffalo mozzarella on top introduces creaminess. Saucy, tender-braised short ribs benefit from excellent ratatouille on the side.
