Much about the three-storey King East restaurant feels totally outdated (loungey room, globally inspired menu), but that’s not always a bad thing. At its best, the cooking is a reminder of how exciting fusion was when it arrived in Toronto in the ’90s. For example, a dainty cornet of fried nori, filled with ahi tuna and avocado-jalapeño mousse and seasoned with spicy miso flakes, is a creative riff on chips and dip. The kitchen occasionally falters on execution—a nicely cooked fillet of black cod lacks the promised chai glaze, while palak paneer naan brings a paltry amount of cheese. A lemon grass crème brûlée with barely sweet espresso ice cream is a refreshing and inventive way to end the meal.

Delicious food and a beautiful Venue by Kathleen Barnaby from Toronto on 2013-07-09

"As we walked in to the Lounge on the first floor we saw that it was not too busy or big, but then the waitress asked us if we would like to sit upstairs? Sure we said. The 2 in the front room. The friendly waitress recommended some dishes since we asked her advice. Great choices. We ordered about 6 different dishes and 5 were amazing and the scallops were pretty good. The steak just melted in your mouth. Wow, better then most of the steak houses my friends love to go to. From now on were are coming to Kultura for steak or Lamb for that matter. The desert we were told is all made inhouse even the ice cream and sorbets. The cheesecake was to die for. You have to try this place because it does not get the recognition it deserves."

"I made reservations for my husband and I at Kultura for a Tuesday night at 8:00 PM for a birthday dinner. We were pleasantly greeted at the front by the hostess, who hung our jackets for us and showed us to our communal table on the first floor of the restaurant. She informed us that it was Taco Tuesday, which meant $3 gourmet tacos, $5 beers, $5 margaritas and $3 tequila shots! In fact, we found out that Kultura offers a special every night in the lounge. Martini & Oyster Mondays, Taco Tuesdays, Wine Away Wednesdays and Thursdays are Bring Your Own Wine with no corkage fees on the first bottle! The second floor offers casual fine dining, while the third floor is for private VIP dining.

Kultura is a beautifully decorated venue and consists of three floors. You will find long communal tables for when you’re in a social mood, as well as private tables in case you’re looking for a more intimate experience. The ambiance, mood and noise level are perfect, so if you’re looking to impress a date, this place is a great choice. It’s also a fabulous spot to have dinner and drinks with a group prior to going out for a night of partying.

Kultura is a tapas-style restaurant, so the portions are slightly smaller and meant for sharing. Our waitress recommended that we order 5 dishes to share between the two of us. So we decided to order the following:

• Two glasses of the Argentinian Malbec
• Fish and Chicken Tacos
• Chicken Samosas (Asiago, Sage, Spiced Apple Gari Chutney, Chai Tea Glaze)
• Ginger Miso Chilean Sea Bass (Cauliflower Purée, Pancetta, Herbed Butter, Grilled Pineapple)
• Mushroom Orecchiette (Shiitake, Oyster & King Oyster, Pinot Noir Pear Chutney, Aged Cheddar)
• Soy Cured Salmon (Fried Capers, Blood Orange, Basil Cress, Sweet Peppers)
• Pink Rose and Green Teas

We found each dish delicious, inventive and full of flavour. Our favourite item on the menu was the Mushroom Orecchiette – it was to die for! We were extremely satisfied (and stuffed) by the end of our meal!

The wait staff was very courteous, professional and attentive. We never had to wait long for our drinks or food, as each item was brought out one after another.

Thanks to the Kultura staff for having us and hosting an incredible dinner and memorable night! We can’t wait to come back to try more items on the menu!"

"3 floors, an excellent decoration, an efficient and smiling staff, a great atmosphere either to have a drink with some friends or business meeting. Location is good too. I really appreciated the food and the fact that music allowed us to talk without having to shout. I definitely recommend Kultura and made it my new spot.."

Fusion, yes please! by Maria H. from Canada on 2013-03-08

"Last month corporate event that I attend made me come back for a dinner in Kultura. I love the ambient, especially second floor and service was on on the same professional level both times. My husband is a big steak lover so I wanted him to try their sous-vide beef tenderloin and he was very satisfied. Like our kind server suggested, mushroom orechiette are must to have and we didn't regret. We started with mediterranean naan and chicken samosas and finished with pork tacos and tofu noodles. Since we love tapas style restaurants and in Kultura we can have variety of food from different places for reasonable price, I'll be glad to come again to try new, different things."

Best night ever by Steve Jenkins from Toronto on 2012-10-25

"Best night of my life!

I don't normally do this, post reviews of restaurants online, I'm no fancy food critic, but I had such a fantastic time at Kultura that I was compelled to do so. Here we go, I was celebrating my Mother's 55th birthday and lets just say my mother is not an easy one to please, believe me I've been her son for 33 years. I was skeptical at first, thinking that I would never be able to find a place that would accommodate to my mother's needs, several restaurants have failed .... But! This place came highly recommended from one of my trusted work out buddies at the gym and lets just say it did not disappoint.

The food, oh my god the food! It was indescribable but I'll describe it. We first started off with Ahi Tuna cornnets hmmm sooo good ( Deep fried Nori seaweed made in to a shell with tuna in it??? my mind was blown). We then moved on to Confit Naan (It was Naan with duck on it , I didn't know you could do that and I loved it). The duck was so good it had us at the table saying " Duck, Duck, Duck!" cause that's all we wanted lol. Then we tried the Pork belly tacos and Seared Scallops and they both good approval from my mother so I don't need to say anything else. For our main dish we got the scrumptious Lamb shank and irresistible Mushroom Orecchiette ( If you go to Kultura and don't get this then you're missing out!). Lastly we got our dessert and because it was my mom's birthday they gave us this lavish dessert platter. It came with doughnuts, creme bulee, lava cake and the best part this pumpkin cheesecake. It was so good, if I was able to have that cheesecake every day of my life I would never say diet starts tomorrow.

The place was beautiful, the atmosphere out of this world, the service so lovely ( Once again I like to thank the staff for accommodating my mother and her constant inquires of raising a lowering the temperature of the room). The night... Unforgettable"

An Evening With Kultura by Judy from Toronto On on 2012-08-22

"I have heard about Kultura from my friends for months....Finally my boyfriend took me there for my birthday...along with 6 of our best friends. i don't usually frequent these travel sites but just had to after our experience last weekend. We arrived a little early (15 minutes) we were greeted by a very nice hostess that showed us to the bar until our table was ready.

There we met Emily...our bartender for the evening. She was such a nice girl....she knew all the drinks we were wanting to try....everyone wanted something different...just for fun. We were all laughing and joking with her while we waited for our table.

Our server came and got us right on time.....this was a first for me....we usually end up waiting in other Restaurants when it is this busy on a Saturday night....very impressed.

We ordered nice bottle of wine to compliment our meal. Very nice....my boyfriend is very fussy on his wine.....I just loved it and so did he.

We looked at the menu....had a hard time trying to figure out which dishes to try....In all I think our table ordered quite a few of them. I wanted the European Sea Bass I have heard so much about and wanted to try the Mushroom Orecchiette. The mushrooms were so good....I wanted more. Sea Bass was excellent.....I love my fish dishes and all I can say is "Wow". All of my friends enjoyed their meals....my boyfriend had the lamb....well he is so impressed he wants to come back next week.....

All I can say is the meal was "perfect"......our server was excellent everything was brought out on time and done to perfection. I had the best Birthday ever!

I had a hidden agenda for this visit....I am looking for the perfect restaurant the cater my parties at Christmas and New Years.....well I found it.....they are catering my parties I just booked them for my Corporate Christmas Party and my private New Years Eve party in my home. I also talked Emily into bartending my company party.

I know I will not wait that long to come to Kultura again....It is #1 on my list of places to go for an exquisite dinner. It is just a beautiful place.

I will recommend it to all my friends. Five star Fine Dinning."
