The large, gleaming installation by Frank Stella adds some character to the AGO’s Douglas fir-panelled dining room, which otherwise feels a little sterile. Thankfully, nothing holds the attention more than executive chef Anne Yarymowich’s thoughtful, distinctly Canadian dishes. She converts a cellar’s worth of winter ingredients, including butternut squash and royal gala apples, into a dazzling salad with piquant aged cheddar, romaine, candied walnuts and apple cider vinaigrette. A tender veal strip loin and creamy lobster-mashed potatoes are a luxurious take on surf and turf. The ambitious, mostly Canadian wine list is admirable; white wine served at room temperature is not.

Worst experience in a very long time by David from Toronto, ON on 2012-07-21

Everything here was atrocious - service, food, ambience, price. I went here with a group of friends for summerlicious last night. Our server was more a sluggish, rude oaf than anything else, and extremely unhelpful throughout the entire night. He did not know how to pour a bottle of wine between 4 people evenly, did not give us an option other than medium rare for the entire table, dropped an 'f' bomb while I was paying for my portion of the bill, and complained about how busy his day was and how glad he was that summerlicious was over. The feel of the place is more like a cafeteria than a restaurant. The food was very subpar - the poached fish was cooked nicely, except the entire platter was extremely bland with rice and peas. The dessert of chocolate cherry cake tasted like it was left out all day as it was dry and stale. Price wise - I ended up paying the same amount that I would have were I paying for the regular menu. The purpose of summerlicious for me is to try out a plethora of restaurants in Toronto to determine where I would like to go back again for their regular menu, as well as to recommend to others. I will absolutely never go back here, and I adamantly recommend that you stay ear of this place.

Went here for dinner July 11 by Troy from On on 2012-07-12

Didn't like the food at all. The atmosphere is nice, servers friendly but the appetizer a water Mellon salad had way too much lemon sauce. Way to sour. The steak dinner had not taste and the desert too sweet. I didn't finish any dish. Just a taste. will not be going back.

Would have enjoyed a Keg steak dinner instead.
