Chef Rob Rossi’s College Street carnivore haven creates such a laugh-laced din—a table of 10 hoots and cheers when its whole suckling pig arrives—it nearly drowns out the Arcade Fire soundtrack. In the wide-open kitchen, Rossi is having a blast, too. The steaks are as unctuous as they look hanging in the dry-aging room. A 10-ounce tenderloin is charred and bloody rare in the centre. Sticky toffee pudding made with carrot cake is a nice twist—although the dessert prices, like those of the wines by the glass and bottled water, are unlisted and add to the shock when the bill arrives.

The reviewer is totally right! The food is mostly good here (especially the brunch), but watch for all the little tricks they do to add to your cheque. The burger is decent, the fries are pretty good. The atmosphere is pretty cool, too, and Rossi is usually kicking around the kitchen and socializing, which is kinda cool to see. Not every chef in town does that. Whatever you do, order meat here. It's a meat place. There's meat everywhere, even in the interior design. This place is way better than the Black Skirt, which is next door. If you have to choose, choose here.
