At Trinity Bellwoods’ welcoming, scruffy diner, a vintage Coke fridge doubles as an oyster cooler, the tables are salmon-hued Formica, and every night, couples and friends spend hours draining bottles of wine, slouched in the weathered faux-leather-and-wood booths. The neighbourly atmosphere is matched by good, if not exemplary, bistro fare. Two fat, creamy crab cakes are twanged with scallions and a kicky mango-chipotle tartar sauce. Smoked trout is terrific draped over a stack of sweet, crumbly corn cakes. The kitchen falters with proteins: a grilled pork chop is unyieldingly tough, and the bland cornbread alongside disintegrates in an ulcer-inducingly acidic bacon-sage vinaigrette. For dessert, a moist chipotle-spiked brownie brings subtle heat as it hits the back of your throat.

horrible service from the lunch time server by S W from West Queen West on 2012-10-28

This WAS one of my favourite places right across the street but if you go at lunch you are likely to encounter a freak-show terrible waitress with glasses circa 1984 who is some kind of psycho always bitching and moaning about everything. She clearly does not enjoy her job. Best to avoid at lunch time! Get back to the colony! Until that stupid wench is gone, I refuse to dine there!

i dunno why people continue to recommend this place. lots of people i trust tell me to come here, but every time i do it seems everything is overcooked. hard eggs that should be runny, over fried fries, completely uninterested hipster service. i guess the interior is pretty cute, but that doesnt get you far in my book!
